The System
A four-step weekly cycle built around spaced repetition
Key principle: If you don't complete a memorization task today, the same page appears again tomorrow — nothing ever advances without your confirmation.
Levels Explained
Every page has a memorization level from 1 to 5
Daily revision. Enters the review rotation and is reviewed once a week (or once every two weeks).
1 day to memorize. After weekend review it becomes L5.
2 days to memorize. Two weekday sessions.
3 days to memorize. Three weekday sessions.
4 days to memorize. Four weekday sessions.
The memorization queue processes pages highest level first (L4 before L3 before L2 before L1), then in sequential page order within each level.
First Time Setup
The wizard that builds your personal plan
The first time you open the Quran tool, a setup wizard appears. It walks through all 114 surahs asking you to select which belong to each level — from Level 5 (mastered) down to Level 1 (not started). Anything not selected defaults to Level 1.
The wizard sets levels at the surah level. For long surahs, fine-tune individual pages afterwards in the All Pages tab.
You can skip the wizard and configure manually, or re-run it anytime via ⚙️ Edit levels at the top of the tool.
Today Tab
Your complete daily session
Pages assigned to today's slot. Check each one as you complete the revision session. Pages are always consecutive — meaning flows naturally from one to the next.
Shows the current page with a "Day X of Y" indicator. Check it when today's memorization session is complete. On the final day, the page automatically promotes to Level 4.
Carry-forward: The moment the app shows you a page, it's saved in the database. If you close without checking, tomorrow shows the same page — it never skips ahead.
Lists every page memorized this week. Check each one off. When all are checked, tap 🌟 Promote all to Level 5.
A blue banner appears on Monday after weekend promotions. Tap Review & Confirm, optionally uncheck pages to keep at Level 4, then confirm. The review schedule rebuilds automatically.
If you missed any Level 5 pages or a day's Juz' recitation earlier this week, a slim Missed from previous days bar appears at the top of your session, showing how many are left. It stays collapsed so today's session stays uncluttered. Tap it to open the list, grouped by day, and tick off whatever you catch up on. Each tick counts for the day the task was due, and doesn't affect today's progress. If you tick something by mistake, tap it again to undo.
Fresh start every Monday: the missed list only covers the current week (Monday to yesterday) and clears every Monday. New memorization isn't part of it, because an unfinished page simply carries forward to the next day.
This Week Tab
A 7-column overview of the full week — what's scheduled for revision each day and which pages are queued for weekend review. Great for planning ahead.
At the top of this tab you can choose how long it takes to go through all your Level 5 pages: 1 week (the default) or 2 weeks. With a large amount of memorization, 2 weeks halves the daily load: the pages are spread over 14 days, so each page comes back every two weeks. Changing it shows the new pages-per-day before you confirm, then rebuilds the schedule from today, with the current week becoming Week 1. In 2-week mode, the Today tab shows "Week 1 of 2" or "Week 2 of 2", and this tab has a This week / Next week switch so you can see both halves.
All Pages Tab
Fine-tune levels page by page
Each row shows five buttons — L1 L2 L3 L4 L5. The active level is highlighted. Tap any button to change that page's level instantly — saves to the database immediately.
After editing levels, tap this button to immediately rebuild the L5 revision rotation (7-day or 14-day). Otherwise it updates automatically next Monday.
Filter by level or tap 📋 In Queue to see only pages scheduled for future memorization in priority order.
All Surahs Tab
All 114 surahs with level, place of revelation, page range, and ayah count. A surah's level reflects its weakest page. Search by name in Arabic or English.
Visibility & Sharing
Tap 👥 Friends to add someone by their email. They must have a Jannatak account.
Family & Halaqa Profiles
Track children, elders and halaqa students who don't have an email
Tap 👤 Me ▾ to open Profiles. Add a student with just a first name. They get their own levels, schedule, missed-tasks list and progress, completely separate from yours.
Start session is what the student uses: they tick their tasks and nothing else. The Private, Friends and Edit levels buttons are hidden, and levels can't be changed. Manage is for you: full access to set up levels, change the review cycle, rebalance, and use every tab. A gold bar at the top always shows whose progress is open and in which mode.
Set your own PIN under Profiles. Then a child in a student session needs your PIN to get back to your profile or to Manage. Each student can also have an optional PIN, so brothers and sisters can't open each other's sessions. The device remembers the last student session, even after it's closed. Five wrong PIN tries pause that PIN for five minutes.
For young children and elders, turn on Simple view in the student's ⚙️ settings. In student sessions, it shows only today's tasks, with large Arabic text, big tick buttons and Arabic section titles.
Invite someone from the student's ⚙️ settings using the email of their Jannatak account. They'll see the invitation under 👤 Profiles and choose Accept or Decline.
Private by design: only the people you invite can see a student's progress. Your friends can't, and a student's teacher can't see your own progress. Only a first name is stored, with no email and no birth date.
For an older child you trust, tick Can change own levels in their settings, and they can adjust levels during their own sessions.
A student can use their own device without an email. In the student's ⚙️ settings, under 📱 Devices, tap + Link a device. You'll see a 6-digit code and a QR code, both valid for 10 minutes and usable once. On the student's device, open tools.jannatak.com/quran, tap 📱 I have a code from my parent or teacher and type the code, or simply scan the QR code with its camera. Your screen confirms when the device is linked.
From then on, the device opens straight into that student's progress, in a student session that can only tick their own tasks. It shows no profiles, no Hub, goals or finance, and nothing of yours. Pages they finish still wait for your approval. Each linked device is listed with when it was last used; tap Remove for a lost or shared device, and it's signed out on its next visit.
iPhone and iPad: if Jannatak is on the student's Home Screen, open it from there and type the code. Scanning the QR code opens Safari, which is a separate app.
Teachers: open 👤 → 🕌 Start a halaqa and give it a name. You get a class code, such as 5YA-YSN. Add each student with + Add student, entering a first name and a PIN (4–8 digits) that you give the student or their parent. You can also add children whose parents invited you as their teacher. Tap 📋 Copy invite for parents and paste it into your WhatsApp group: it explains the steps in Arabic and English and includes a link that opens the halaqa directly.
Students: on your own phone or tablet, open tools.jannatak.com/quran, tap 🕌 I have a class code, type the code, tap your name and type your PIN. The device then stays linked to you, as with a one-time code.
The 🕌 Halaqa tab is your dashboard: Today: 11 of 15 practiced, how many items are waiting for your approval, and for each student their ticks today, when they were last active, their Level 5 pages, their devices, and a warning if they have no PIN. Tap Open to manage a student. In ⚙️ Halaqa settings you can rename the halaqa, set a student's PIN, remove a student, make a new code if the old one was shared too widely (students already linked stay linked), or delete the halaqa. Students always keep their profiles and progress.
The class code shows only first names. Wrong tries are limited, and after 5 wrong tries a PIN pauses, with longer pauses for each further wrong try. If a student forgets their PIN, set a new one in Halaqa settings; that also clears the pause.
Just like reciting to the teacher in a halaqa, a student's milestones can wait for a parent or teacher to check them. Choose what needs approval in the student's ⚙️ settings:
Waiting items appear as a number on 👤, and as 📋 To review in Profiles, or in the gold bar while you manage that student. ✓ Approve moves the page up: memorized pages go to Level 4 and into the weekend review; reviewed pages go to Level 5 for Monday's rebalance. ↩ Return lets you write what to work on. The student sees your note on their Today page, and the page goes back for more practice. One approval from any parent or teacher is enough. When you tick something yourself in Manage mode, it counts right away.
While a page waits, the student moves on to the next one. Their Today page shows what's waiting, so nothing is forgotten.
Your older child: under 👤 → + Add a student, enter their email in Already has their own Jannatak account? and send a request. After they accept under 👤 → 🧑🏫 My teacher, you supervise their account: you approve their pages, invite their teacher and decide whether they can change their own levels. Changing levels is off by default, and that's enforced by the database, not just hidden. Stop supervising hands their settings back to them.
An adult with a teacher: open 👤 → 🧑🏫 My teacher and invite your teacher by email. You keep control of your own settings: you choose what needs their approval and can remove them at any time. Your teacher sees only your Quran progress, never your goals or finances.
Tips
- Open daily: Even just opening the app ensures your memorization page is locked in — carry-forward works across all devices.
- Fine-tune page by page: The wizard sets surah-level defaults. Use All Pages to configure long surahs individually.
- Rebalance after bulk edits: After updating multiple page levels, tap 🔄 Rebalance so the schedule reflects changes the same day.
- Multiple devices: All progress syncs via the cloud — phone and computer stay in sync.
- Missed a day? The same memorization page carries forward. Your Level 5 revision picks up where it left off.
